I believe that every child is a unique individual with dynamic learning styles, talents, aptitudes, interests, dreams, and hopes. Creating a positive learning environment that benefits the whole child is essential to the success of that child. Through a growth mindset, I hold high expectations knowing that ALL students can and will learn and grow in our schools. In order to transform any learning environment we need to believe the following:
- We work in a dynamic and often complex world of education that needs simple systems
- Great schools have GREAT CULTURES not great curriculum
- Teachers (behavior and expectations) are the single biggest influence on student learning.
- School leaders (behaviors and expectations) are the single most important influence on overall school success.
Creating a safe and supportive learning culture that contains behaviors that set every student up for success begins with the school leaders and teachers. We each need to take ownership over what we can control and demonstrate our belief in every student through our daily actions. Students are only one caring adult away from being a success. Schools need to create a culture of learning that supports students ability to reach their full human potential. Every school environment should be inspiring, empowering, and dedicated to a mindset of continuous improvement.
